"Equal Pay Day - How Far Have We Come?"
Date: Thursday, April 15, 2010
Time: 11:00 am – 1:00 pm
Location:
Crowne Plaza
Hotel, Exit 8, Nashua, NH
Women have made remarkable gains in education during the past three decades,
yet these achievements have resulted in only modest improvements in pay
equity. The national day of action promoting fair pay is known as Equal Pay
Day and is celebrated in April because April symbolizes the month when
women’s wages catch up to men’s wages from the previous year.
Join us at the Crowne Plaza in Nashua on April 15th when BPW welcomes our
state legislation chair and Executive Director of the NH Women’s Lobby and
Alliance Nikki Murphy, to learn about the Wage Gap, the importance of Equal
Pay Day, and state and federal pay equity legislation that will benefit NH’s
working women.

Nikki’s passion for public policy, education, and advocacy guide her in
fulfilling the Lobby’s mission to improve women’s economic and social well
being through public policy reforms.
She is currently focused on passing a suite of work/life policies to help
women balance their work and family responsibilities. In addition, she
speaks throughout New Hampshire and New England educating businesses and the
general public about the need for Work/Life policies which reflect the
changing demographics of our 21st century workforce.
In 2010, the Women’s Lobby is beginning an educational campaign on the Wage
Gap in an effort to address the issue of pay inequality for women in New
Hampshire and throughout the nation.
Nikki received her Master’s Degree from New York University in Clinical
Social Work and her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in
Sociology from Wagner College in New York City. Nikki is a member of the
Business and Professional Women and serves as their State Legislation Chair.
Nikki lives in the seacoast area with her husband and daughter and enjoys
